2 weeks and 6 days.

In 3 weeks, well by now its 2 weeks and 6 days. That is how long until I will be home to my family farm. The one place on earth where my roots have grown deep. It is the place on earth where I feel the most sense of peace, where if I would let myself really truly relax.

There is something to be said about living and farming the land that your ancestors have worked for over 100 years. The farm has had many facelifts over the year from Lots of pasture land and hundreds of heads of cattle, hogs and sheep. It even housed a dairy barn at one time that was the original homestead for my Great Grand parents. My Grandfather, father and uncles have all farmed it.

While it is currently sitting in pasture its amazing the return of wildlife we’ve had. From pheasants, quail, eagles, deer, foxes and even those pesky coyotes. There is non stop singing from the quails and the rooster pheasants that just fills your soul with Joy. There is even the occasional serenade from the neighbors peacock.

The real reason I am counting every day, hour and second until I am home is Frosty James. Frosty is my miracle boy. He was born out of a pair that my Dad had on October 28th, 2006. It was the first snow of the year. He was the only one out of the litter of 8 to survive. I didn’t know then how big of a part of my life he would become. To be honest I don’t think any of us did. But as of today, he is the King of the farm. He definitely rules the roost.

Leaving this summer was maybe the hardest thing I have ever done. See I found out a month that Frosty is terminally ill. He has two tumors that will eventually be the cause of his passing. The positive side is he’s in no pain and is so unbelievably happy. So his vet said just let him be happy. So that is what he is doing, farming with his Papa this summer. By farming he spends most of his time eating deer poop, rolling in questionable things and begging my Dad for strawberries, tomatoes, berries and whatever he ends up cooking.

I am beyond thankful for the care my family takes of Frosty. My little brother though, he goes above and beyond. He makes sure Frosty gets his meds, feeds and waters, even lets Frosty steal 90% of his bed every night. Every time I FaceTime home I find him sitting on Andrews lap or begging and getting half of his dinner. Frosty’s favorite thing may be the car rides they take. From just running into town, checking deer cams or just a cruise on gravel roads Frosty loves it all. So Andy, Thank You for loving Frosty as much as I do. Trust me he loves you too.

So I am planning to enjoy the next 2 weeks and 6 days on the road. But I am already starting my list for Frosty and Mom adventures as soon as I get home. I think the first adventure will be fishing followed by lots of farm adventures (in the form of work)!
